Dear participants,

Unfortunately, rain disrupted some of our tournament play this past weekend. Originally, we planned to reschedule to Feb 3rd (Saturday), but due to the potential rain forecast for that weekend, we've decided to reschedule to Jan 28th (Sunday).

Here are the updated start times: Jan 28 (Sunday)

8am-11:30am: Mixed 4.0&4.5 50+, 4.5 8+, 4.5 35+, Men's 3.0 8+, 3.0 35+, 3.0 50+

11:30am-3pm: Men's 3.5 8+, 3.5 50+, 4.0 8+, 4.0 35+, 4.0 50+

3:30pm-7pm: Mixed Open, Men's 4.5 8+, 4.5 35+ & 50+

For players unable to attend on Jan 28th (Sunday), please let us know before tomorrow, Jan 24th (Wednesday), 11:59 pm.

DIVISIONS

  • Men's, Women’s & Mixed Doubles (Skill: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 Age: 8+, 35+, 50+)

  • Mixed Open Doubles ($2500 Prize Money, Skill: 4.0+, Age: 8+ )

  • Open Doubles ($2500 Prize Money, All genders, Skill: 4.0+, Age 8+ )

Teams can be formed in Men’s, Women’s or Mixed in Open Doubles. Both players must have a DUPR rating of 4.0 to join Mixed Open and Open Doubles.

Prize money is based on 25 teams in each open division. Prize money will scale down if the bracket is less than 25 teams. If there are more than 36 teams registered in open divisions, spots will be prioritize to the players with higher rating.


FORMAT

5-10 teams

- For brackets with 5 teams, you will be playing a double round robin, one game to 11, win by 1. For brackets and groups with 6-7 teams, you will be playing a single round robin, one game to 15, win by 1. For brackets and groups with 8-10 teams, you will be playing a single round robin, one game to 11, win by 1. 

12-18 teams

- For brackets with 12 teams and above, you will be divided into two groups. You will first play a round robin to determine your placement, then first two places of each group will be playing a medal round. Group A 1st place will play against Group B 1st place for the Gold medal match and Group A 2nd place will play against Group B 2nd place for the Bronze medal match. Medal matches will be one game to 15, win by 2. 

Combined age brackets

- For brackets mixed with 8+, 35+ or 50+ teams, you will play against every team and medals will be awarded separately to 8+, 35+ and 50+ winners according to overall records, including matches against both age groups. If there are more than 4 teams in your age group, the top two 8+ teams in group A will play the top two 8+ teams in group B for 8+ medal round. The top two 35+ teams in group A will play the top two 35+ teams in group B for 35+ medal round. And the top two 50+ teams in group A will play the top two 50+ teams in group B for 50+ medal round. The top 3 teams in 8+, top 3 teams in 35+ and top 3 teams in 50+ will be awarded with our customized CAPA medals. 

Open Divisions

- Teams will be divided into four groups according to your team's combined DUPR rating. Group matches will be a single round robin, 1 game to 11, win by 1. First 2 places of each group will be playing in the quarter finals, winners go to the semi finals, then winners of the semis will go to the gold medal match and losers of the semis will go to the bronze medal match. Playoff matches will be one game to 15, win by 2. 


RULES

Round robin plus medal round format for each age division. Franklin X-40 yellow will be used. USAPA 2023 pickleball rules will be applied. Only USAPA approved paddles can be in use. Net serve is continuous play. Receivers have to call OUT calls clearly and loudly in game.

Enter as a team. Both partners have to be above 50+ to join 50+ division. If I am 49 and my partner is 51, my partner and I cannot join 50+.

Please register the corresponding level as your DUPR rating. Both partners can play above their rating, but not below. If a player has a 3.0-3.49 rating, the player can join divisions of 3.0 or above. If a player has a 3.5-3.99 rating, the player can only join divisions of 3.5 and above. If a player does not have a rating or rating is provisional* (with 5 or less games recorded), the player can join in any divisions. If players are found registering in lower divisions than their rating, it will result in disqualification.


DUPR

3.0-4.5 division matches will be recorded in DUPR by CAPA after the tournament. Open division matches will not be recorded in DUPR.

REGISTRATION FEE

Men's, Women’s & Mixed Doubles: $65 Per Person Per Event/$130 Per Team Per Event

Mixed Open Doubles: $120 Per Person/$240 Per Team ($2500 Prize Money)

Open Doubles: $120 Per Person/$240 Per Team ($2500 Prize Money)

Please enter you and your partner’s full name on ‘Additional Information’ when you check out, and have both you and your partner register and pay before the deadline.

Zelle- If the online registration shows your division is full and you have not paid yet OR if you do not have paypal, please zelle to capickleballassociation@gmail.com, make sure to email you and your partner’s full name, DUPR email, DUPR rating, age and division.

Confirmation- Once online registration is successful, player will receive a confirmation email from Squarespace with a confirmation number, your team will be updated to the ‘Player List’ shortly and a welcoming email will be sent after the registration deadline.

Refund- If you withdraw before Jan 7th, refund will be processed after the registration deadline. $3 paypal processing fee will be applied to each transaction withdrawal. No refund will be given on cancellations after Jan 7th. No refund due to weather conditions.
